Refund Policy

A straightforward promise: if a guide isn't useful to you, you shouldn't have to pay for it.

The short version

Every digital investment guide we sell comes with a full, no-questions-asked refund window of at least 30 days from the date of purchase. If you buy a guide and decide it isn't what you needed — for any reason, or for no reason at all — email us and we'll return your money in full. You don't need to explain yourself, fill out a survey, or sit through a retention pitch. One email is enough.

That's the whole policy in one paragraph. The rest of this page spells out the details so you know exactly what to expect: what we sell, how to ask for a refund, how long it takes, what happens to the guide afterward, and the handful of edge cases that come up from time to time.

What this policy covers

We sell digital investment guides — downloadable PDF reports that walk through the economics of specific alpine property markets. They are the only products we sell. As of this writing, our catalogue includes:

GuidePrice (USD)Focus
The Innsbruck Studio Ledger$39Small-unit economics in Innsbruck: purchase math, rental yield, running costs
Kitzbühel Chalet Economics$59High-end chalet markets, seasonal occupancy, luxury segment pricing
The Tyrol Acquisition Handbook$79The full purchase process: fees, notary steps, land registry, taxes

Prices range from $39 to $79 depending on the guide. Whatever the price, the refund terms are identical: full refund, at least 30 days, no questions asked. There are no "premium" products with stricter terms and no sale items excluded from refunds. If you paid us money for a guide, this policy covers it.

Prices on the site are listed in US dollars. If you're buying from the EU, any VAT is calculated and handled at checkout by our payment processor — you see the final amount before you confirm. A refund returns the full amount you were actually charged, including any VAT you paid, not just the headline dollar price.

How to ask for a refund

Send an email to research@tyrol-crest-estates.com from the email address you used when you placed the order. That's it. A subject line like "Refund request" is plenty. You don't need to include your order number — we can find the purchase from your email address — but including it doesn't hurt if you happen to have it handy.

A few practical notes:

Use the order email if you can. If you write from a different address, we'll ask you to confirm the address used at checkout before we process anything. That's not a hoop to jump through; it's a basic check that the person asking for the money back is the person who paid it. If you no longer have access to the order email, tell us and we'll work out another way to verify the purchase.

Tell us which guide. If you've bought more than one, let us know which purchase you'd like refunded. If you want everything refunded, say so and we'll take care of all of them in one go.

You don't need a reason. Truly. Some buyers tell us anyway — "the guide covered a region I decided against," "I found the same data free elsewhere," "I bought the wrong one" — and that's genuinely useful feedback, but it is never required and it never affects whether you get your money back.

The 30-day window — and what "at least" means

The headline window is 30 days from the date of purchase. In practice, we treat that as a floor, not a ceiling. If you write to us on day 33 because you were travelling, or on day 45 because you only just got around to reading the guide, we're not going to split hairs. We sell research documents, not concert tickets. The point of the window is to give you real time to read the guide and decide whether it was worth the money, not to catch you out on a technicality.

Where we'd gently push back is a request that arrives many months later, after the data in the guide has naturally aged — at that point the product did what it was supposed to do when you bought it. But even then, if something was genuinely wrong with the guide itself, write to us. We'd rather have the conversation than hide behind a calendar.

How refunds are processed

Refunds go back to the original payment method you used at checkout — the same card, the same account. We can't send refunds to a different card or to a bank transfer you nominate, and honestly you should be wary of any merchant who offers to; routing refunds to the original payment method is a standard anti-fraud practice that protects you as much as it protects us.

Once we confirm your refund, it typically takes 5 to 10 business days for the money to appear on your statement. That window isn't us sitting on your money — we issue the refund promptly, usually within one or two business days of your email. The rest of the time is the card networks and your bank doing their part, which is outside our control. If 10 business days have passed and nothing has shown up, reply to your refund confirmation and we'll trace it with the payment processor.

You'll get a confirmation email when the refund is issued, so you're not left wondering whether anyone read your message. If you haven't heard from us within two business days of your request, something has gone wrong on our end — write again, or call us at +1 (201) 555-0148.

What happens after a refund

When we refund a guide, your license to that PDF ends. Each guide is sold for personal use, and the purchase price is what makes that license exist. Once the money goes back, the arrangement is unwound: you're no longer licensed to keep, use, or share the document.

Here's the honest part: PDFs can't be "returned." There's no warehouse to ship a file back to, and we have no way to reach into your downloads folder. We know that, and we've priced and structured this whole policy around it. We simply trust you to delete the file. If you've shared it with colleagues or uploaded it anywhere, we ask that you take it down and let them know the license has ended. The overwhelming majority of buyers act in good faith, and we'd rather build a policy for honest people than punish everyone for the few who aren't.

One thing a refund doesn't affect: your relationship with us. You're welcome on the site, you're welcome to read the free research pages, and you're welcome to buy a different guide later. A refund isn't a black mark. Some of our most engaged readers are people who refunded one guide because it wasn't the right fit and bought another that was.

Digital downloads: no shipping, no delivery problems to "return"

Our guides are digital downloads. There's no physical product, no shipping, no customs, and no package to lose in the mail. Delivery is a download link that appears after checkout, with a copy sent to your order email. Because of that, a few categories of refund that exist for physical goods simply don't apply here — there's no "return postage," no "restocking fee," and no "item must be unused" condition. The file was delivered the moment you downloaded it, and we refund it anyway, because the value of a research document is in whether the content helps you, not in whether the bytes arrived intact.

That said, if the bytes didn't arrive intact — the download link failed, the file won't open, the email never showed up because a spam filter ate it — that's not a refund situation, that's a "let us fix it right now" situation. Email us and we'll get you a working copy, usually the same day. You shouldn't have to refund a guide you never actually received.

A note on chargebacks: please email us first

If something has gone wrong with a purchase, we're asking you — plainly and in writing — to email us before filing a chargeback with your card issuer. This isn't about avoiding accountability. It's about speed and accuracy on your side:

A refund is faster than a chargeback. Our refunds typically land in 5 to 10 business days. A chargeback dispute routinely takes 30 to 90 days to resolve, during which your money is in limbo and you may be asked to submit documentation. One email to us is almost always the quicker route to your money.

Chargebacks can misfire. We've seen buyers file a chargeback because they didn't recognise the descriptor on their card statement, then feel bad when they realised the charge was legitimate. If a line item on your statement looks unfamiliar, check your order email or just ask us — we'll confirm whether it's ours in one reply.

It keeps your access clean. A chargeback on a digital product often triggers automated fraud flags at payment processors, which can complicate future purchases — not just from us, but from other merchants who use the same processor. A simple refund request avoids all of that.

To be absolutely clear: you have the right to dispute a charge, and nothing in this policy takes that away. If you believe a charge is genuinely fraudulent — say, you never bought anything from us at all — contact your bank immediately and then let us know, because that means someone's card details are being misused and we want to help stop it. But for "I bought this and want my money back," email first. It's faster for you and simpler for everyone.

Duplicate purchases and accidental orders

It happens: a double-click at checkout, a page refresh at the wrong moment, and you've been charged twice for the same guide. If you spot a duplicate charge, email us and we'll refund the duplicate as a priority — you don't need to use your 30-day window for our billing mistake, and duplicate-charge refunds aren't subject to any review at all. We'd also appreciate the heads-up, because duplicate charges usually mean something in our checkout flow needs fixing.

Bought the wrong guide? You have two options: email us for a straight refund under this policy, or email us and ask to swap. If the guide you meant to buy costs the same, we'll just send it. If it costs more, you pay the difference; if it costs less, we refund the difference. Whichever you prefer — some buyers would rather have clean paperwork, others just want the right document.

Governing law

This refund policy, and any purchase you make from us, is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, where Tyrol Crest Estates LLC is based. Our European entity, Tyrol Crest Estates GmbH in Innsbruck, handles research operations, but purchases are made with the US company. If you're a consumer in the EU, nothing in this policy limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under local law — in particular, where local rules give you withdrawal or refund rights that go beyond what we've written here, those rights apply too. Our aim with this policy is to be more generous than the legal minimum everywhere we sell, not to argue about which minimum applies.

Any dispute that can't be resolved by simply emailing us — which, in the history of this policy, has been all of them so far — would be handled in the courts of New Jersey. We hope it never comes to that, and given that our entire dispute-resolution process is "send one email and get your money back," it probably won't.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the changes apply to purchases made after the change takes effect — we won't retroactively tighten terms on something you already bought. The version in force when you checked out is the version that governs your purchase. If we ever make the policy less generous, we'll say so prominently rather than editing quietly. Frankly, the trend has gone the other way: this policy started as 14 days and "a brief reason appreciated," and experience taught us that longer windows and fewer questions make for happier readers and no meaningful increase in refunds.
